Vitamin B12 is essential for nerve function, red blood cell production, and DNA synthesis. Intramuscular (IM) injections of B12 are often prescribed to treat or prevent deficiencies, especially in individuals who have difficulty absorbing the vitamin through their digestive system.

Benefits of B12 Injections:

  • Increased Energy Levels: Helps combat fatigue and weakness.
  • Improved Mood: Supports mental health and cognitive function.
  • Enhanced Metabolism: Aids in the conversion of food into energy.
  • Healthy Nervous System: Essential for nerve health and function.

B12 IM Treatment

B12 is injected into the muscle usually into the arm (deltoid muscle), upper thighs (ventrogluteal muscle), or upper buttocks (gluteal muscle). IM injections are fast and usually take up to 5 minutes to administer and are less invasive compared to IV injections. B12 is slowly absorbed from the muscles creating sustained effect.

How frequently do I need B12 treatment

We recommend an initial replenishing treatment followed by a maintenance treatment:

  • Once a week: For first 4-6 weeks to replenish B12 stores.
  • Once a month: To maintain optimal levels.

Possible Side Effects of Injecting B12

While B12 IM injections are generally safe and less invasive compared to IV injections, some individuals may experience:

    • Mild pain or redness at the injection site
    • Temporary dizziness or nausea
    • Rare allergic reactions

Are there any alternatives to B12 injections?

Yes, oral supplements are a possible alternative though they do not offer the same level of absorption and effectiveness as injections.

    Are your treatments painful?

Most of our treatments are non-invasive with minimal to no pain or mild discomfort. For added comfort, we offer numbing agents with many of our treatments to ensure your experience is as painless as possible.

    Contraindications?

Individuals with a history of allergies to B12, those with specific medical conditions like asthma, or pregnant women should consult a healthcare provider before considering B12 injections. If in doubt, always seek the advice of your GP.
